Does Free Range Physical Therapy take insurance?
Free Range Physical Therapy is now in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas. We are out-of-network with all other providers at this time, but are now able to make claims for out-of-network services to most major insurances. We are not able to bill Medicare/Medicaid for services at this time. Please contact us, and we can look up your benefits for PT in- or out-of-network. We continue to work on a “cash pay” or “fee for service” basis as well. Contact for price details.
Why doesn't Free Range Physical Therapy take my insurance?
Free Range Physical Therapy is now in-network with BCBSTX, but is able to bill out-of-network for other major insurance carriers. Due to the increasing demands placed on providers by insurance companies coupled with declining reimbursement rates, we currently do not work with all insurance providers. We feel that these demands take attention away from the treatment and healing process and do not believe our primary concern should be placed on which treatments the insurance provider will cover at the best reimbursement rate.
What is the benefit of receiving physical therapy from Free Range as opposed to traveling to a clinic that is “in-network?”
Free Range Physical Therapy may be for you if you prefer working one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and you see benefits from receiving therapy at your location. Each session is at least one hour and tailored to meet your needs. The therapist will educate you on how to continue exercise and stretching routines on your own often requiring fewer treatment sessions than typically would occur at an outpatient clinic. If you have a co-pay at an in-network clinic, this will result in out-of-pocket payment each session over 8 sessions at minimum; if you have not met your deductible you will more than likely pay the entire cost until your deductible is met. Depending on the structure of your insurance, costs may be similar between the two options. If you are a parent seeking PT for your special needs child, this is an alternative to finding a pediatric clinic if you do not qualify for home health through your insurance.
What kind of prescription do I need from my physician in order to begin physical therapy? Who can write me a prescription if I do not have a Primary Care Physician (PCP)?
*** AS OF SEPTEMBER 1, 2019 YOU NO LONGER NEED A PRESCRIPTION TO SEE A DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR UP TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS. IF TREATMENT BY A DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY IS REQUIRED BEYOND 10 BUSINESS DAYS, A PRESCRIPTION FROM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED:
Physician (MD, DO, PA)
Dentist (DDS)
Chiropractor (DC)
Podiatrist (DPM)
Nurse Practitioner (NP)
What will a visit be like? How do I prepare?
The physical therapist will work with you to schedule a good time for an initial evaluation. The initial evaluation can take up to 1.5 hours if needed. During the initial evaluation, the physical therapist will take your history and perform tests/measurements to determine your baseline function. The physical therapist will then work with you to create goals and educate you on how to achieve your goals with an individualized plan. The number of sessions post evaluation will vary depending on your condition and treatment plan. A pricing plan for treatment sessions will be available at the time of evaluation. Please contact for initial evaluation or wellness evaluation/treatment pricing.
What forms of payment does Free Range Physical Therapy accept?
We accept cash, check, and credit cards (through Square or Paypal).
Is my child developing on track? How can I determine if he/she needs a PT evaluation?
Your child's physician may recommend physical therapy at his/her annual check up or you can request a prescription from a physician. We can also evaluate and treat for up to 10 business days before a prescription is required. If you would like to review typical development patterns, please click the “Learn More” button below that will lead you to a typically developing child developmental chart.
Does Free Range Therapy offer occupational or speech therapy?
Free Range Physical Therapy does not currently staff an occupational or speech therapist. We are happy to help refer you for these services if needed.
